A Fram exhibition in China

23 April 2014

The Fram Museum´s exhibition "Explore the Arctic - past, present and future" opened on April 22 at the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai and the Polar research Institute of China. All texts have been translated into Chinese.

At the opening, Deputy Director General Jianmin Jin represented the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum (SSTM), while Director Geir O. Kløver represented the Fram Museum. The latter also conducted a training session for the five Chinese guides who will present the Norwegian exhibition to the large audience at the SSTM. The event was also attended by Consul General Øyvind Stokke and Consul Siri Borgen from the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai.

The exhibition contains the entire permanent High North exhibition at the Fram Museum, in addition to highlights of the lives and explorations of Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen. The exhibition will be shown in Shanghai until May 22, before it moves to Guangzhou in June and to Beijing in September.

The Fram Museum is very proud to cooperate with the SSTM, and we have agreed to carry out more projects together in the future.

"Victory awaits him, who has everything in order - luck we call it.  Defeat is definitely due for him, who has neglected to take the necessary precautions - bad luck we call it"

Roald Amundsen
