Amundsen photo exhibit in Gjoa Haven

People in Gjoa Haven celebrated the achievements of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen this past weekend. Honoring the two years Amundsen spent near this Nunavut community more than 100 years ago during his successful attempt to make the first crossing of the Northwest Passage.

While the anniversary of Amundsen’s Northwest Passage transit was celebrated in Gjoa Haven five years ago, the community is now welcoming the arrival of a photographic exhibit on Amundsen, a gift from the Fram Museum in Oslo and the Norwegian government.
